Try here.

I've kept and trained many cats. None chewed cords, and all were terrified of being sprayed. If you have the opposite, then it's a cat problem. Blocking it off will only force him to find other ways to get at it since he now might regard that area as part of his territory.

In my experience, it's better to train your cat to not want to do something, as opposed to being unable to do it, because being able to do it will always recur once we forget.

Spray the area with repugnant scents (ammonia, I think works, but the other forum can help), squirt the cat and chase it, make loud noises when you do so, the moment it goes behind the tank. In time, it will regard the area as a distasteful place to be.

I'm thinking at some point in my aquarium life I have heard that ammonia has an affinity for water molecules and in proximity to an aquarium can affect things. Might want to find another deterrent if this is the case.

Yeah hotsauce is the best. The dollar tree usually has this:

Pretty good on everything and I bet kitty would stop with his BS.

Plop the cat into the tank and let it 'swim' for a minute. that way it'll learn theconsequence of climbing on the tank and hopefully not do it again lol
