Help with Crazy anglefish

I recently bought a 3" anglefish and it is happy in my 40 gallon community tank
Today I came home and it (i gess now i kno its a she) was laying eggs on the filter, there's no male in the tank!!!!! There were probably 15 eggs
Then I checked 2 hours later and they were all gone
What should I do!!
I would like to breed them, do u suggest another tank?
If so what size?

Only breed if you are dedicated to it. If you have the space and time and money, and also have something to do with the babies, then go for it. Otherwise dont worry about it, the eggs are gone because they werent fertile. Or perhaps they got bad and were then eaten.

Angels are choosy with their partners. I agree with Pyramid. Thing is you really cannot tell which is male and which is female until they spawn wherein you observe the position and shape of their ovipositors in order to know their genders. Most first time spawners will in fact eat their eggs even if they are fertile but after a few rounds, they will eventually understand and learn to improve their parenting skills. This happens usually when angels are separated from their parents at an early age or while still in their eggs.

She is laying eggs cause youre doing a good job of taking care of her.Like lupin says it isnt easy to sex angels and its a good chance a random male wont be compatible with her.Enjoy the fish and if you are serious about breeding angels,do your homework first and find out whats involved.

wut do u mean "compatible" my lfs has about 15 angels and she sez once i get in the store and pick 1 she can tell me whether its male

No, there is no accurate way to determine their sexes other than watch them spawn and look for their ovipositors. When we say 'compatible',we meant finding the right partner for your fish. Angels are choosy. You do not dictate them which one should be their partner. It's their choice whom they want to pair off with.

not to rub it in but i just had my angels mate in the last couple of days and the eggs are almost ready to be free swimming they have mated alot but this is the first time i got this far it took alot of work from my husband and me to get this figured out and who knows they still might not make it. plus we need to get a empty tank just for the breeding pair and raise the fry in. so keep your fingers crossed and i hope you have good luck like i did. sometimes things happen when your not looking for it

I use to breed angel fish in a planted 65g tank, it was awesome. Made some good money on the babies.

ok so do u think if i bought 2 more angels of similar size and ut em in like a 29 wouuld they breed?
