hello I have a large freshwater eel in my 75 gal tank not sure what kind he is and I want to know if there is anything I need to be feeding it. I feed everyone in my tank flakes, shrimp pellets, and treats such as bloodworms, and freeze dried shrimp. I also put some lettuce in there sometimes for my silver dollar and anyone who wants some. Please post some pics of your eels so I can tell what kind it is. It is Brown with little yellow fleks. thanks
I attach you some pictures.Freshwater eel or morey eel are echidna rhodochilus;gymnothorax tile;gymnothorax polyuranodon and in one picture you can see one big fire eel.For all of this you need brackis water (least 2 tablespoon marine salt per gallon). In aquarium you need some caves and plastic plants (see my pictures). The light for aquarium you need to turn of in night time, and food you need to give live ghost shrimp and live small fish.Every week you need to change 20 or 30% of water, and all the time you have to add 2 tablespoon per gallon of water what you change.Keep the temperature between 75 to 82.You need minimum 55 gl aquarium and be sure have a cover, becouse this eels are artists in escape. In aquarium don't use any metal and if you fallow all of this you will enjoy manny years with this wonderfull eels.
