how does this sound. all will be in a 240. Im trying to get a finalized stock to complete my CA tank. if you have any ideas for me im open for suggestions and advice

gibbiceps 5-6"
synspilus 4"
Pearsei 5-6"
Bocourti 3-4"
Maculicauda 5-6"
Argentea 7.5"
Regani 5-6"
(2) 4-5" silver dollars ( will be moving hopefully )
(3) 7-8" Red Hooks ( will be moving hopefully )
Possibly a Melanurus 5-6" if i can find one
Possibly a Bifas 5-6"

That is going to be one massive bioload. You should see how much by synspilum and pearsei in particular poop :D What kind of filtration are you planning on?

right now i run 2 fx5s with mmy current stock, but plan to add 2 ac100's here in the next couple of weeks along with my twice weekly water changes. But i have been thinking and i do think i should have either a pearsei or a bocourti and not try to have both. They both get pretty massive and would probably be over doing it.

But getting rid of the red hooks and silver dollars and adding 3-4 Cichlids shouldnt net me that much more of a biolode that i have at the moment right?

Your current stock:

gibbiceps 5-6"
synspilus 4"
Pearsei 5-6"
Bocourti 3-4"
Maculicauda 5-6"
Argentea 7.5"
Regani 5-6"

I think this list right here is a good place to start. See how everyone is doing together and check your water parameters. If it were me, I would be comfortable adding a couple more cichlids like the ones you mentioned you were looking for. Then, after a couple of months I would pick and choose my favorite group that had the best colors and matching personalities. For me, keeping cichlids is a balancing act. You can never get it exactly right on the first try, so having backups plans is really important. Besides all of that, I think you have a beautiful stock and when grown these fish will all look amazing together.

oh i must be misreading that.. my current stock is
5" Regani
5" Maculicauda
7.5" Argentea
(2) 4-5" silver dollars
(3) 7-8" red hooks

all the rest id be looking to add in place of the silver dollars and red hooks.

i like my stock with my cichlids but i wont some more color and i want my Argentea to stick out and with the SD's and red hooks he just doesnt do that cuz of all the silver

I just meant your current idea for your stock. My bad. The synspilum and bocourti will add color.

I run 1 ac110 on my 90gal and filtration has ALWAYS BEEN EXCELLENT! i use 2x bio media, ammonia insert, some carbon and the huge brick sponge. I think 1 ac is sufficient coupled with ur 2 canisters but the more the better @100$/filter. Maybe consider a uvc with that kind of load!

thats what im thinking. I just hope i can find a big enough bocourti to go in "safely" a 3"er might be able to possibly

The AC 110 is a good idea along with the Fx5, I run them together on one of my tanks and use the 110 with the foam block and Purigen or carbon if needed. It makes it easy to put in or take out compared to the Fx5. Great stock, I love those fish. And as mentioned earlier you will probably be having to pick and choose fish for balance and preference, just see what works as they grow.
