HELP WITH FLOWERHORN!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You said the water had turned cloudy and killed your filter. If you did this with the fish in the tank, imagine what its gills went through.
*Water quality was an issue
*I keep my water temp at 85-86
*Now its not eating and you want to change its diet
Once the temp & water quality improves, focus on getting it to eat...food = energy = enhanced immune system.

This pretty much sums up what i said first off. Good call. Starve that fish for a few days and then re-offer only pellets. Once he's hungry, he'll eat anything. Good luck.

And suggestions as far as pellets go? Are any live sources good a treat every once and a while or swap to pellets only? Does anybody know what kind of flower horn or sex it is I was told it was a male?

I keep the water temps for my SRD flowerhorn between 80-84 degrees. They like it warm.

I feed my flowerhorn Hikari pellets, tetra cichlid crisps, green peas(good for digestion), frozen bloodworms and frozen(sometimes live) brine shrimps.

My boy gets the following pellets...

I never feed him live...only frozen three times a week eg: slivers of trout, salmon, tilapia, pollock etc...and bloodworms.

Live food sources that I find safe are mealworms & crickets. With live feeders & frozen bloodworms, you run the risk of parasites. Freeze dried shrimp & bloodworms make good treats.
