That is bonkers, lol.

My gaffer at work loves the Toyota Land cruiser, it's the only vehicle he'll drive and he gets a brand new top spec one every 3 years. The engine in one of those is a 4.5 litre twin turbo, and that is a big engine in the UK compared to the vast majority of other cars on the road.

A few years ago because of the new legislation regarding emissions on these gas guzzlers, they stopped making the model he loves so much, he simply can't get one in this country. So he is still driving around in his last one, which is about 7 years old now! He won't part with it.

If the emissions do gooders have done this to us, how the hell can tens of millions of Americans be riding around in trucks which make my bosses land cruiser look like a go cart!!!

Obviously the emissions policies and attitude to these gas guzzlers by your government is light years away from ours. Even more puzzling when you think that this fight against climate change is meant to be a global one! I just don't get it. Ulu , I know you'll have a slant on this.

Emissions laws vary from state to state with California being the most strict. But most of the rest of the states only does Emissions checks on cars 20 to 25 years back rest don't have to at all. Also Emissions are typically a big city thing. If you live far enough away you can skip them altogether.
A guy I know has an 85 Chevy S-10 Blazer with a 500hp Corvette 327 in it. You can actually see the gas gauge move when he really gets on it.

They are around. Every manufacturer has to have an offering to be able to continue selling vehicles here, that or a hybrid. They just put a Tesla "fueling" station in at a local supermarket here a few months ago. At the dealership all the techs are being required to take specialized training. They are moving the alignment rack to an unused part of the building to make room in the main portion for a bay specifically to work on electric vehicles. They also have electricians running wires and conduit throughout the building for charging stations. I am not sure if it's happening all over the state or not. There is a Tesla dealership about 50 miles from where I live not sure if one is coming to this area or not. Gm has the bolt ev and the euv and they are pretty happy about the new electric hummer too.

Yeah I know. Although most of the hummers are actually bummers with a 5cyl and they've made them with a 6.2 v8 and what gas guzzling lover of raw power could forget the original with a diesel. Diesel isn't the same as gas but you get the idea.

Pretty sparse here in the Northwest. But Washington state took a major step to change that. From 2025 on you will no longer be able to buy New gas cars. Used, yes but brand new one nope.

I know the US has 52 states, I get that, even in the UK we're split up into different areas. Though, unlike the US, all our different areas follow the same governing laws.

But the US has different laws in different states! As an example, in one state you could be executed for doing something wrong, and in the neighbouring state you'd go to prison, seems pretty drastic.I honestly don't see how that can work smoothly, especially if you're moving around from state to state regularly....just like you're planning on doing!!

It goes all the way back to the constitution. Our founding fathers didn't want to create another Monarchy type situation. So they gave the federal government certain powers, but most of the day to day running of the states up to themselves.

i thought California had it bad by the 2035 mandate. Those renting cannot charge their cars. There’s always more cars parked in the streets than in garages. I see a huge market of imported “used cars” showing up from nearby states
