help with getting super clear water

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a 150 5x2x2 with a similiar setup as your. I run two eheim 2028 canisters and an Emp400 HOB filter. I only clean my canisters once every 6 months. I do biweekly maintaince emptying out the filter floss in the Emperor. I don't run carbon unless the tank wreaks from uneaten spoiled food. My water is normally clear enough to be acceptable by most fish keeping standards but I am such very anal with clear water. I noticed my water was not as clear when my UV bulb got burned out. Once I replaced the bulb the UV took the clarity to a new level. People don't give UV the credits they're capable of doing. Most people bashing on UV on freshwater either want to penny pinch or have never used a UV. If you can afford a UV then definitely go for it.

Change the set up to above tank return, add a spray bar over filter floss/wool job doe.

hello everyone
i am still trying trying to get the suspended fish look and i am still far from this goal =(

as of right now i have tested with carbon and seachem purigen which helps a lot but the effects wear off after 1-2 weeks

ive added a 18w turbo twist last night to the return hose of an eheim 2026 and so far not a huge difference in water clarity

can any one help me with setting up more mechanical filtration =D

right now i am using bigals filter floss
ive added 2 pads of the bigals filter floss to the top of each eheim in my tank

some one recommended poly filter

is this a good one to get?

if so, should i get the 50 micron or 100 micron

how should u set up a eheim 2080 and 2026 for more mechanical?

or should i sell my two eheim 2026 and get a fx5 and set up the fx5 for mechanical..

so hard to get super clear water..ugh

thanks for the help mfk!

You need poly filter pads.... the 50/100 would be great, this is for water polishing and they will clog up fast/faster depending on which you choose which will lead to more filter maintenance.
