Adding more cichlids prevents 1 cichlid from receiving 100% beatdown. Bottom cichlid will receive the most beat downs

Valid points in adding wood/rocks.. Did you notice any difference in aggression before and after adding wood?
Another reason I didn't plan to add wood is due to the space they take up in the tank.. Nonetheless, I will heed the advice that you and the others have given and look for some wood, if I can find any that catches my eye..

I looked through the link and noticed that most of the female GTs are aggressive towards their counterparts.. Do the females only chase/attack the males?
Does more GTs in a tank reduce aggression or is it the same either way ie the weaker ones will get bullied by the rest?

Onto my GTs update, they are doing ok aside from feeding time.. GT1 went from anti-pellet to pellet-hogging and would just chase GT2 whenever GT2 tries to go for the pellets *facepalm*
So I had to improvise and put the pellets in little by little so GT2 gets to eat as well..
I noticed a big difference yes. The “weaker” fish just needs to get out of the sight of the dominant fish. When a bully or dominant fish notices other fish it will probably chase them. In a tank without decoration or hiding spaces the bully will always have sight on the other fish. Adding more GT’s will spread the bullies agression so not just one fish has to handle with all the agression of the dominant one. With GT’s its the male being agressive towards others, probably ending up killing other males. I have one male and 2 females, if there weren’t other dithers in the tank i would have added 1-3 more females, although i don’t think it would be absolutely necessary.

Well today I noticed another aggressive behavior from GT1.. If GT2 is the first to get the food(pellets), GT1 goes full throttle on him like the fury of a scorned woman (assuming GT1 is a she) :nilly::nilly::nilly:

Quick question, how do I know when the GTs are stressed?
Also, am still wondering bout the black spot on their body that keeps fading on and off.. is this normal?
