Aloha Fellow MFK's,

I just picked up a used 150 gallon and I love it but the previous owner had some neglect issues.

There is some kine of Hard water haze that I can't seem to get out and it is an eye soar. I tried waxing it out. Also tried a razor blade.

Please, please, please....need some advice!!!

It is not the flaky white stains it is the stuff that remains underneath. If you look at it from an angle it has some rainbow coloration.

Here is a pic (Thanks in advance):

This is why I do not use my hard tap water in my tank. I do however get stains like that in my showers and sinks. The only advice I have is to scrub hard with the rough side of a sponge and just keep scrubbing. Hard water stains are the worst though so I feel your pain even if this is not much help. Good luck!

I have the answer for you my friend!

not sure about the rules regarding posting web addresses but I'll give this a try.

I followed the advice on this thread except I used an electric drill and a buffing wheel (purchased at Home Depot) and it worked miracles for me. I got a used tank that was very cloudy and this method removed most of the cloudiness for me. I spent probably 5 hours working on my 55g and simply wasn't patient enough to spend another 5 hours which I think would have taken the cloudiness out completely.

i know Dr. Foster and smith has some kind of hard water remover for fish tanks.. but not sure what it is called..

+1 for rubbing compound. Worked on my 210. I used a 7 inch buffer killed my shoulders but crystal clear when I got done. I think next time I'm just gonna get inside the tank and buff it that way. Good luck.
