To clear things up here, there is no "marmalade jake", there are however several species of what's called "marmalade cats" not to be confused with your standard OB, You may have gotten a female "marmalade cat", or if it's less than 2.5 in. it may color up yet.

marmalade cats are not peacocks, they are a type of mbuna. There are no marmalade cats in peacocks.

btw-there is a marmalade jake- an O.B. x lemon jake(or some other kind)-you can cros an ob w/any other peacock and calli what you want-just dont call it a marmalade ob-which would be redundant

The fish I have seen you might be referring too is a Mamalade Lemon Jake, notice there is no "R". I do not know much about this name either. Anytime I see altered names I usually steer clear of that fish. Especially since the Sunset Peacock disaster out of Florida. Supposedly an employee put the wrong fish in a pond. Hence the Sunset Peacock was born from a Firefish and Ngara Flametail.

I've actually never heard of a sunset peacock but it sounds nice.I wonder who created the firefish?Isn't it a Mamela leman jake?
How did people find out about the sunset? Was it really an accident?

There was a thread posted on the ACA website (I think it was here). I have seen them in LFS near me and tons of people have bought them in other LFS. They are allot like a Red Shouder Pea and range from a blue to red coloring. Just makes me wonder how many other species got mixed by this same employee. I can not believe there was one fish pond stocked that day.

I agree that first fish appears to be hybrid, in fact I would expect half non-aulonocara. I have young jakes, baenshis and dragonbloods and their body shape is different from that.

Spartacus - anyone with peacocks has a LOT of fish that color!

yeah Dave,it sounds pretty typical.I started breeding sunburst peacocks and got a lot of variances.blue heads, white, and some w/yellow.I had a female sunburst,so these fish are what?Did anyone figure out how they made a sunburst?
also man,I love your avatar! Are those colors real?ebjd?
