First, I read the sticky about salt. It also stated some fish do not tolerate salt well. The tank in question has a juruense, BGK, and bichirs. What is the best treatment for this combination. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

put the sick fish in a quarantine tank then add some salt and use AQUARI-SOL also rise temp to 80*

Being that it's the cat showing signs, and some of them don't do well with salt, I'm not sure that will work and doesn't work better to treat the tank than an individual. If one has it they are all in danger.

Ok so get the sick fish out fast and other that show signs of sickness or you might lose your whole tank. ACT FAST MAN!!

i got you man.. go to WAL-MART and buy a package that says FUNGUS CLEAR tank buddies. it'll make your tank turn green but it'll go away.. got rid of the ick for my fishes. you only need one tablet. comes with 8 tablets.

Juruense Cats can handle salt.

Bump the temp up to 86 and add salt. Do a water change in a few days and if they still have ick, just add enough salt for the water you put back in.

Example: if it is a 30 gallon tank add salt for 30 gallons. If you take out 10 gallons on a water change add salt for 10 gallons and not the whole 30 gallons.

I would not us Aquari sol in tanks with Loaches, Inverts and even some knifefish. It contains Copper.

If you can keep your temp up at 86 you will usually never have an ick problem. Pet stores usually have this problem as it is very hard to keep the water warm and constant as they usually have to add water every day from bagging fish and it is hard to keep heat in the tank with no tops.

Thanks Nick. I was worried about some of the chemicals with the cat. What about salt with the BGK.

Got temp up to 86-87, added salt and waited. Jur seemed to have so many white spots on him the next day it was hard to tell his real colors. But despite looking like he would die at any moment, he still swam in the current and ate like a pig. Today the spots have seriously declined and he is looking better. And still eats like a pig. Thanks to Nick for a great fish and advice and a big  to Guppy and all others who had a hand in the Ich treatment sticky.
