Live outside outside of Tampa. We get a lot of small salt fish in estuaries and streams but eventually go out to the ocean once bigger.

Get jacks, snapper, tarpon almost always little juveniles.

The rivers (not all) here drain to the bay and the salinity goes up as it drains out.

That's why I mentioned Wes cause he brought them in from Australia. Those were landlocked freshwater snapper. Will love forever in freshwater and thrive.

There are some sold here (local lfs) especially due to access and other lfs as freshwater. They aren't pure but will tolerate for while as juveniles. I've seen the same done with salt water barracudas. Never ends well.

So just got to figure out what's the likely hood it'll survive it's entire life in freshwater.

Also they are aggressive and once bigger will with the tankmates.

Yeah, I've was born and raised here in Sarasota FL, been fishing salt and fresh all my life. I've caught tarpon in land locked lakes before snook, ECT ect. Just never a snapper. The fresh snappers I've caught where all in brackish creeks that ran into bays. But it makes sense, the minute it came into the store I thought it was a mangrove I just doubted myself.

It was more of a curiosity then wanting to bring it home or anything. They will probably be returning it. I doubt anyone wants to pay 50$ for a mangrove snapper.

Oh ok...yea very expensive snapper indeed. Get it cheaper at a restaurant anyway lol!
