where the corruption never ends
Well, I just got a 3" inches clown knife fish yesterday, but the deal is, I can't get him to feed on pellets that the LFS gave to me.I tried to put 5 pellets but he seems to eat nothing, so can someone tell me how long should I wait before he eats those pellets? and what other foods can I give to him at that size that he'll surely eat without hesitation?.He's currently in a 50 gal tank(bare bottom) with a 7 inches arowana.

He has probably been eating live food... so you will have to give him guppys that are very small.. i do not like giving live foods because of diseases especially and best if you raise your own..but knives this small will not readily except pellets. Because they are small and fragile you do not want to starve them at this stage.. give either tiny feeders and baby guppys until he is settled in and stress free and growing and healthy....then switch over to pellets..and once you get him on the pellets never go back to live food again. It was a great day when mine switched over to pellets and he is 16 inches now and will eat all kinds of food except live..so just have patience.

It seems that all of you have the same answer and I thank you for your help. I'll try to contact our LFS tomorrow and see if they have some small guppies to sell because I only see them selling worms, big guppies and feeder goldfish as feeders.

good luck and keep us posted on how he is doing..

try some blodd worms...should do the trick...get him fattened up and then it is on to pellets.

this is a great idea ..try frozen blood worms and frozen brine... you may not have to go to live..if he takes this .. but most important is getting him eating something..

Can you purchase and chop up some silverside for him? Petco and Petsmart sell silverside. They are frozen ocean minnows. Smells like live food so might work...?

There's no petco and petsmart here in the Phil. sorry :)
