help with large brackish setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've seen people keeping brackish with real wood, but I don't know if it was successful or not. I was planning on putting some real wood in the tank, but I believe I'm going to convert it over to marine, and I know wood won't do well in there (right?).

I've had quite a few real wood pieces in my brackish tank for about a year now. salinity around 1.006 to 1.010 and no signs of detioration or rot yet. No idea what type of wood it is though.

It would be sweet to get a hold of an old piece of shipwreck wood with shipworm borings in it.. Something that's been in sea water for a long time... Then again, that could contain some unwanted parasites and/or bacteria...

2C, You are correct--I wouldn't do that. But again... where do you think all our live rock comes from.
