Well i've decided to setup a leopard gecko terrarium for my desk. I'm going to use a 10 gallon tank for now since the leopards at petco aren't very big (between 3-5"). I have a 20 gallon long i can upgrade them to later on. Today I bought an undertank heater for the 10. Almost every care sheet ive read online says to use paper towels with small leopards but the heater says not to use them. What should i do? Should i use some felt or something instead? Would the UTH be able to heat the entire tank or should i use some form of overhead heating also? How long would i be able to keep 2-3 small leopards in the 10 gallon? Can you sex leopards at 3 inches?

You should be fine with a uth and paper towel. Thats what I use with most of my tanks. Just put an extra layer on the hot side. You should have 1 hot side I keep at a high 80 to low 90s and a cool side that should be around 75 degrees. So room temp should be fine, unless you have a cold room. Provide atleast 2 hides, a moist hide and another hide. I keep the moist one on the cool end and the other on the warm end.

should i use wet moss to line the inside of the moist hide? As for the heater, should i use the adhesive backing to stick it to the bottom of the tank? The heater packaging says that once the heater is stuck to the bottom of the tank, it cannot be removed. I would like to reuse the heater when i upgrade to the 20 so can I just use duct tape to hold the heater against the glass?

duct tape is fine to use to stick it to the bottom of the tank I have used it with no harm done to the tank or the heat pad. Moss is good for the moist hide also I agree. You can usually sex them around 4-6 inches in length wich is around 6 mo or so. If you end up with more than 1 male just return it for another.

The warm side of the cage maxed out at 88 degrees and the cold side of the cage is 76 degrees. Is this good?
