Help With Medication

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok, now for the treatment I have gone with so far. I dosed PraziPro last night at 1 tsp per gallon. I then added aquarium salt at 1 tsp per gallon this morning. Lastly, I added MetroPlex at a concentration of 2 scoops per 10 gallons, and added one scoop with about 1/5 scoop of Focus to a cube of thawed bloodworms. I saw my small bass eat some of those bloodworms, so that is definitely good.

Tomorrow is water change day, so I will do a 90ish% water change and then redose the PraziPro, MetroPlex and aquarium salt. I will then redose the PraziPro every three days for the next week, and add the MetroPlex to their food for the next week.

Any suggestions you guys have with this plan?

They don't seem to have any appendages that would look like a macro-parasite like anchor worm, or something on that order, or even a cottony growth like normal final infections.
Just like indistinct bumps, making them very hard to judge without a microscopic evaluation.

The small circular pit near the gill plate looks bacterial to me. I don't see an ectoparasite like anchor worm and would lean more towards a bacterial infection which could have arose as the result of the stress of shipping. Focus contains an anti-bacterial I believe.
I would still treat as you are doing BTW.

Thank you both for the information. I will continue with the treatment and see how things progress. Hopefully, I will end up with a lot of chunky and healthy bass at the end of it.

As far as I know metroplex is significantly more effective when ingested versus treated in the water.

The medication is mainly for the smaller bass. It’s just not eating and has a sunken stomach. It hasn’t grown at all since I got it while the other two have doubled in size.

The salt is for the fungus-like growth that is affecting one of the fish. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give them a salt treatment for a week or so.

I get ya man like i said i dont have a vast knowledge of meds. If it were me id get a better idea of what i was dealing with. Some bacteria's call for different courses of treatment.

Thanks for adding the tags. I’m not very familiar with medications either. I’m just using these because I want to make sure that these fish won’t end up transmitting anything to my bigger tank when I move them over.
