Imo, you guys are crazy. I would not trust GE I to hold together a tank. Take a look at this if you need proof-

He used GE I on that panel, and what do ya know, it busted. There is a reason why tank builders do not use GE I, and this would be it. Just my opinion, however if you cannot afford to spend an extra four bucks a tube for three tubes, this is not the hobby for you. Then again, not my living room. Please take pictures should it burst. I would like some proof on this site too. People seem to think that because its on another site that makes it less true. Dont mean to sound like an ass, but I guess I dont see why people spend thousands on these setups but cheap out on the most important part. Anyway, best of luck to ya!

You are truly mistaken my friend. GE 1 is perfectly fine. Its a home-made aquarium for god sakes without any BRACING! If he would of had corner bracing at least it would not have happened. You can't expect for ANY type of silicone alone to hold glass together with no help from bracing.

I guess you dont venture into the reef world much huh? Over there there are tanks hundreds of gallons without bracing. While they are more expensive, they can still be built. GE I is not the silicon to use. It is a sealant, not an adheasive. However, I can argue this until I am blue in the face (and I have in the past), however no matter how hard I try people dont listen. Wow, you may have put together one tank. That makes you an expert! Like I've said, pretty damn retarded to spend thousands on equipment, then thousands on fish, only to have a seam you saved $4 on blow. I just dont get why anyone would risk it? Look at the data sheets. All the info you need is there. GE I doesnt even list adheasive strength. Why? Because it is meant TO SEAL A WINDOW!

Say what you will, but I promise you, no pro aquarium builder would be caught dead shopping at Lowe's or HD for their silicone. Good luck to you all, I give up after this. Everyone thinks their an expert, so have at it!
