Help with my 55gal salt!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also,I have a 29 gallon and I was planning on using it as a refugium.Would this work too?

ive never liked UGF's, i think there more work then its worth honestly. HOB filters will remove "junk" and floating particles in the water better then a UGF, which will just pull everything down.

Sand should be around 3-5 inches deep. the deeper the better stability you'll see in the long run of the tank. Basically more room for different types of bacteria.

yes, only issue is getting water from the 55gallon too the 29 gallon. Best way of doing so is using an overflow basket on the 55 and placing the 29 in the stand. You can use the 29 as a sump/fuge or just one or the other. IMO if your using a HOB filter for mechanical purposses then having the 29 as just a fuge is a better option.

alright.I'm using the LR as my primary filteration source. The HOB filter is an aquaclear. Is that enough filteration for now?I also found something called "live aragonite sand".Should I use that or a combination of aragonite/live?Also would the UGF be acceptable for the fuge or not?And would a chainlink moray work in this setup? If so,what are good tankmates?
