I currently have 2 aqua clear 110's on my 135 gallon FW and my fish are putting quite a load on them!! I plan to get a FX5 in near future but need to make the best of them for now. I feel like there is to much sponge and not enough Bio?? As in the pictures below in one filter I have sponge and 2 bags of floss and in the other I have sponge and 2 bags of Bio. I was thinking of cutting sponge in half and going with 2 bags of floss (or larger bag) and 2 bags Bio??? What are your ideas or experiance. Thanks for input!!:headbang2

A ton of people do that, it works fine. I do it on all of mine.

Personally I use the 70 sponges which are less thick then I use biomedia x 2 and carbon works very well on all ac 110 ,I have six works great for me.

Do what? Less sponge and more Bio??

Yeah. I cut my sponge in half and fill the thing up with bio. It seems to do just as well mechanically, and your replacement sponges last twice as long now that you have 2.

I too cut the sponge in half for room for more bio... i think i have 3 bags in there now

i have full size sponge and 3 biobag... filter floss when i had it.. need more ac110 is awsome.. just keep on stuffing stuff in it!

More Bio it is! I'm going to put a pre filter sponge on the intake tube to make up for some of the sponge I'm going to remove. I'll update with pics later!! Thanks for input!!!
