Both my male and female Dovii are not looking right at the moment.

They are both lifting in the water like it is a swim bladder issue. Its like there rear wants to lift and there swimming head down.

I have done a full check on the water.

0 ppm Ammonia
0 ppm Nitrite
10 ppm Nitrate
Temp is 26

I feed them Hikari gold, Massivore, earth worms, various cubed foods as well.

There are still young dovii in the tank with them who are not displaying any issues at all.

I do water changes every 2 days and the water parameters are perfect.

I genuinely dont understand. They have not been fighting at all.

Nothing else in the tank apart from there babies.

ANY IDEAS AT ALL

It's interesting that its both of them.
I can only presume that they both caught some parasite together in your tank.

If you need an answer asap, phone the best LFS you know and they'll tell you what you can do.

I don't know many fish that recover from swim bladder issues.
Outlook isn't good mate.

crap.

I will see what there like when I go home tonight. How they could catch something when nothing new has been added to the tank....

Its not a huge lift. There not fighting to stay down or anything. There both eating well and defending when I go near there fry.

Just swimming more head down and there is a slight light to the rear.

Weird though, if its a parasite I would have thought the younger fish would be effected as well.

I know more than all the fish shops around my are. Half of them dont even know what this type of fish is.

Will give wharf a call.

If it is bladder issues. Heat up some peas and feed them to the Dovii. This works great for bladder issues. But I dont think that it is that. How big are the fry? The reason I ask, is because I have fry in the tank with my Xiloaensis, Red Isletas, Zonatus, and my Hogaboomorum. They were all swimming like that, almost like they are annoyed or fed up with the fry nibbling on them. Yesterday, I relocated the Zonatus and Hoga's, and removed the fry. Today both pairs are looking great and actually are clearing out an area and looks like they are wanting to spawn again.

Today I will do the same to the Xilo and Red Isletas.

I would try the peas first, it really does help.

If they're defending still then it's not too late.

A long shot would be that nothing is wrong with them rather they are "observing" and herding their young.
Several of my breeding fish had developed this face down behavior (slight tilt.. not extreme) mostly when fry are at the wriggler stage and slightly thereafter. Of course this behavior wasn't continuous they would look down pick up stray fry and re-place them with others and keep repeating as necessary. Posting a video would be the best way to confirm or eliminate this as a possibility.

I removed as many of the fry as I could but not all of them. The fry are about 1.5 cm roughly and are eating like monsters.

They do still defend them but no where near as much.

They are both still eating and its not a continous floating. Its just sometimes there doing it.

I did a large water change and treated the water with some myxazin just incase there is any parasites etc.

They had some massivore stuff today along with some krill so there aint nothing wrong with there appetites.

Never thought that they could be fed up with the fry, thats a decent theory.

Will try and catch the remainder of them.

I moved all the ones I could into my wifes"community" tank..... its safe to say that it is just the little Dovii swimming around .... oops

If it's not something they're constantly doing and they're eating normally I wouldn't worry. A fish with Swim Bladder Disease will swim erratically and find it impossible to control its buoyancy... they can't turn it on and off. I see my festae swimming with their heads slightly tilted down whenever they're near a strong current, god knows why. The salvini in the same tank doesn't do it, just them. Basically it can be a number of different things that doesn't necessarily mean they're sick. But post a video just to make sure.
