help with my green terror gender

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
straight tailed green terrors are male
and rounder tailed GTs are female
in this fella
its like
not sure
my inclination is towards female
as
its
anal and dorsal fins are too short.
though tail says its a male.
i am not sure.

I want to clarify that my answer was merely a guess. I'm going by the lack of markings on the unpaired fins and dull coloring on the body. Looks just like my female except with white fringe instead of orange.

Here's a pic of my pair. See the beautiful fin markings on the male above?

100% female. She looks exactly like one I used to have. Nice fish!

yeah def female, like balton said, you can look at design within the dorsal and that usually indicates male (very rare for female to have this in dorsal) also look at the body scales, on a male the scales will have a brighter more iridescent color than the dull color of the female, also look at the face males will have stripes by their mouth and then just a couple spots on the gill plate while females should have extensive blue bearding on their gill plates, also look for start of a nuchal hump (though my female has this as well so its not 100% but if a fish is showing ALL of these qualities then its almost positively a male) and +1 on the set up it looks GREAT

I also think it's female, mainly because of the short fins, there's really no indication of "maleness" about it, especially at 3-4" . . .

as far as the comments about "white fringe" vs "orange fringe", those aren't indicators of sex, they are the traits of a Silver Saum vs a Gold Saum, which are two common variants of GTs . . .

No one said white vs orange made a difference in sexing.

Try to comprehend what you've read before making comments. :screwy:
