A few days ago I came home and was surprised to find my oscars had laid eggs, than now are wrigglers and have been moved into a hole they dug , they seem quite attentive and there are litterly hundred of them I realise in a day or two there turn into fry so, my question is how do I feed them , with what and how would I get the food to bottom of tank
Thanks Dean

They won't need food until their yolk sac is absorbed and fry are free swimming. You can purchase Hikari First Bites or crushed pellet or flake will work. The best live fry food is newly hatched Brine Shrimp. Btw if you have any algae on your aquarium glass or plants or a sponge filter in the main aquarium the free swimming fry will graze on those also finding micro foods that the human eye cant see. Also fry are known to eat from the slime coat of the parents.☺

Just noticed that you joined today Welcome to MFK☺

If you have to cover any intakes of your filter with a sponge or even a mesh media bag from the lfs will work.

Yes personally I would let the parents raise the fry also. Do you feed the parents pellets if so just pulverize a few for the fry when they become free swimming.☺

yeah mate,They have only ever had pellets and fruit since I got them for my daughter when they weren't much more than an 1" big,so I might go down the route of crushing them down tiny if I can get them small enough, someone told me egg powder works

I agree you can pulverize the pellets the parents eat and shoot them into the school of free swimming fry with a turkey baster or pipette. Lots of small feedings throughout the day are best. You can also let the algae grow on the sides of the tank and decor, and the fry will graze on it.

I use a dedicated processor to blend pellets with a little tank water, and sometimes add a few thawed peas.
