I recently purchased a Motoro ray who's about 7" - 8" in diameter, before I bought her I made sure she was eating, she was feeding on carnivore sinking pellets and live black worms. She's been in my tank for 2 days now and ignores all the food I try giving her. I'm worried that being these small she might starve her self to death. No tank mates bother her so the stress coming from another mate its out of the question. Everyone else seems to be eating just fine, the usual. I didn't notice when I purchase her but today she put her belly on the glass and I notice that her under belly is pinkish? maybe this is normal for a ray this size? or is it something else am not aware off. Any tips will be appreciate it, my debola bichir is in love with her already, would hate to lose her. Ty

It is probably stress from the move and new surroundings... pink on a pup is not always a bad thing- do you have substrate different then she was on? what are the tank mates? even if you do not see them bothering her... them just being there could be new for her? and as said previously how is your water?

i would shut the lights off for a couple days to let her adjust

I had the lights off for 2 days, only turn them on when am going to feed my fish or attempt to feed her. I got her from a breeder, he had her in a gravel substrate tank. I have her in a BB tank, the bottom of her just seems pink, just didn't know if it was normal. For tank mates she has a Golden Clown knife ( biggest baby of the tank ) , 2 x Spotted gars who wouldn't kill a guppie if I put it in front of them because I had them since they were 5" and were never fed live food. they're 18" now, 1 x 8" Flag tail and a 15" Dabola who's in love with the ray, wants to be next to her every second, if she moves he moves closer to her. I hope that's not bothering her, he's just a big gentle giant. I tried feeding her with thongs she's just not interested. My water is 0.0.5 , thank you for the reply, just want to use the best method to get her to eat.

You should be feeding with the lights off... if you want to entice her go pick up som trout worms. The fact she now has no substrate and all these tank mates is new to her and probably daunting. i would alse be concerned with the flagtail sucking on her.

I will go right after work and purchase some worms at my local bait shop, I sure hope this works. Black worms didn't work and they were her main food source before I bought her. ( They make a mess in my tank floating all over the place , I hate it ) . also the flag tail doesn't get close to her at all, my clown knife is the oldest in the tank therefor , no one really dares to get close to him, he to my surprise has accepted the Dabola Bichir and the ray to be the only ones allowed under his manzanita tree -_-. the gars and the flag tail mind their own business around them, they don't get close to the ray, so far. You think id be a good idea picking up a 100lb bag of pool filter sand and dumping it in the tank for her? my only problem is that I have a total of 28000GPH in circulation pumps not including my eheim 2262 and the 2 x sunsun's 402B's. Putting sand in there would be kind of a disaster, it would be blown all over the place.

I just got home after i stopped by a tackle shop to buy her some trout worms, when i got home i noticed that she's peeling.. she has a white trim around her disk, like peeling skin. need help asap. let me know plz, thank you here is a picture of it.

How did you acclimate her to the tank? Drip or ?

Sudden changes to different water paramters can cause stress (breeders and your tank), and a drip method to acclimatize normally does the trick (this is what I do).

Do daily water changes and add a bit of epsom salt (my personal experience with salt and rays has always been good). Probably should turn off the wave maker as well
