anybody out there with Red P's that has introduced other fish to their equarium and if so what were they?

I have a 90 gallon with 6 rbp's and one large Pleco. would like to Add to the tank and havn't heard about too many fish that can be introduced that arn't going to be food

I hear u can add a Pacu but i never tried that, the Pacu lives in the same waters as, it mimics the P for it's own safty

depending on the size of the P's i would say that at a young age you could introduce oscars or convicts but with p's there is no telling what might happen. But it all come down to the individual fish , if you believe that your p's are timide enough to introduce another type of fish than go ahead but if you want to play it safe go with another pygo( cariba, terns...etc)

i moved this to the piranha section for more info.

i added other fish and they either got eaten or injured and removed.
its not worth it really

from my experience nothing really works unless introduced at the same time you introduce your p's

Had a pleco in with mine. P started eating ate it so I had to put him in another tank. Your P's have left your pleco alone?

Depends on the size of your rbp's and your tank? Example: If your fish are at least 5" and your tank is over 5' long. Then put in about 20 Neon Tetras. Their faster than your P's and since their smaller. Your P's will eventually give up chasing them from sheer exhaustion. That's not counting the ones that will stray too close to your P's. The rest will figure it out and give them a wider berth. Plus the Neons will make excellent scavengers for left-overs. Main thing is to have enough swimmimg space for the Neons to dash to. Any small fast swimming fish will do just as well. Cardinal Tetras/Neons look great in a big tank because their very colorful and FAST!

true.
i have a small school of tiger barbs, and they have been getting along fine with the piranhas. mine are still juvenilles and are around 4'', so theres still no telling what might happen.
the barbs however, were in the tank before i got the piranhas, and i grew them from about 3/4''. so at one point, the barbs were bigger. and they even killed 2 of my babies. T_T
