Help with stocking a 55 gallon

These are the 2 current peacocks I have. The BP is awfully shy.

I'm looking at livefishdirect and am beginning to feel way overwhelmed.

Is there a way to sex the current peacocks?

You will need to know what sex you have before adding others. Looks like a Male at top pic Tbh not sure about the OB .

I agree, the lighter colored Peacock looks to be male. I'm afraid my opinion regarding the OB is just an educated guess. "Female".
Two male Peacocks kept together in a relatively small tank often times leads to a
miserable life for the subordinate. The OB looks to be in good shape. Again, Female?

I just read that you're considering adding Rams to the Peacock tank. Not really a good idea. Rams aren't particularly durable and probably wouldn't be able to endure African cichlid aggression or water parameters.
Might be better off adding a couple of good sized Limestone rocks to the hardscape & ordering three or four more juvenile male peacocks.

Any ideas ideas for stocking the BP and Pictus? Heard rumblings of adding another pictus or 2 but in a 55 gallon tank I fear they won't have the space to swim fast as they mature.

Thoughts?

Adding a couple more Pictus cats should be fine. Maybe add a group of bigger schooling fish like Giant Danios.
