Right now I have 6 africans and 1 med. pleco. As far as filtration I have an xp2 and a chessy tetra h.o.b.What else would be good to put with africans. Plan on upgrading with a another xp2 and dumping the tetra

I thought about a green terror or red devil. But chiclids would most likely be food. do you have a pic of that cat fish?
Fill it with African Cichlid pairs! You get varied color from both fish (Most of the time) and there are lots to choose from!

First of all, you should get ID's on the fish you have - this will determine if you can add more - and what you can add.

I agree. Without knowing what fish you have in your tank its useless in recommending what else to add to your tank. Do you have haps, peacocks, mbuna, victorians etc?
If you have cichlids from lake malawi you could do a all male peacock tank which would give you lots of color, or like why spider mentioned do a mbuna setup which will give you lot of action.

Ah, yes, I forgot about that option - definitely a good option at that. Just try to select males that don't look similar in color pattern, usually involves a bit of trial'n'error but getting rid of bad males should be easy since those are what everyone wants.
