help with the FLUVAL FX5

How do you shorten the length of the intake tubing so that it doesn't sit near the sand? thanks.

I only use Biomax in all my Fx5's nothing else! And i haven't had a single problem in all these years running them like that.

Hi, I just purchased a FX5 and looking forward in setting it up in my new tank. I'm just wondering how much Biomax do I need to fill up the all baskets as they come in 500g or 1100g boxes, someone here mentioned 6 boxes and 2 boxes of prefilter which seems alot (and probably costs a fortune!). Will one 1100g box be sufficient to fill one tray?

Get 4x of those 1100g boxes or 7-8x of the 500g boxes. I originally bought 6 boxes (to be safe), but I ended up buying 1 or 2 more boxes for a total of 7-8. The prefilter is a waste of money in my opinion. Your sponge will remove most of the debris already, those prefilter will serve you no good.

If you don't have money to spare, I would recommend getting seachem matrix 4L for around $20-25. As for the remainding 2L, it's up to you what you want to do. Either buy some more matrix, biomax, or generic ceramic rings.
