IMO, I would steer clear of mixing them. Jacks are much less aggressive.

My FH has bitten me twice. He's ripped a snail out of it's shell.. he attacked the bag and ripped a huge hole in it because he didn't want it in his tank, and he annihilated a danio in about 5 seconds.
FHs are EXTREMELY aggressive, and SHOULD be kept as solitary fish.
Go ahead and waste $20 so your FH can kill it.. the FH won't even eat it either...
In my area, jacks are a dime a dozen as well- so I know I wouldn't pay $20 for one that size.
