Saw this jd on craigslist for $30. It's 8-9 inches long. I have a flowerhorn 6-7 inches long. Would they get along? Is it male or female?

Depends on the FHs personality... my friend has other FH type fish with one of his FH, but they get chased often.

My 4-5" FH won't let ANYTHING in his tank.. not even fingers or siphon tube.

IMO, I would steer clear of mixing them. Jacks are much less aggressive.

let us hope for the best. if they make fries, imma sell them to the lfs. and tell them they're high grade flowerhorns, just to piss people off on this forum. lol jk.

That's a male. I wouldn't mix anything with a FH unless you don't care if it dies.

It doesn't matter size... it's aggression level, and determination.

My FH has bitten me twice. He's ripped a snail out of it's shell.. he attacked the bag and ripped a huge hole in it because he didn't want it in his tank, and he annihilated a danio in about 5 seconds.

FHs are EXTREMELY aggressive, and SHOULD be kept as solitary fish.

Go ahead and waste $20 so your FH can kill it.. the FH won't even eat it either...

In my area, jacks are a dime a dozen as well- so I know I wouldn't pay $20 for one that size.

you'd pay $20 for a smaller one? i like bigger fish, their personality is much more outgoing.
