I could really use some advice or suggestions. Well, here is the problem. I need to move all my fish from Florida to Ky. It's about a 13 hr road trip straight through. What I'm thinking is that I'll get several of those storage containers (the rubbermaid tubs) for the move and put 1 or 2 fish in each depending on size. I plan on filling each a little over half way with half fresh and half tank water. Then I want to put holes in the lids so that I can run an air stone in each one while on the road. Because of the weather being pretty warm lately I feel like the temp of the water shouldn't fluctuate too much. And lastly, I was thinking about doing a water change about halfway through the trip. The fish that I plan on moving are a GT, JD, Mayan, 4x Convicts, a Brown Bullhead Catfish, and a Pleco. Oh, and I plan on fasting them for about 2 days before the trip to cut on waste. If you have any experience with this sorta thing any advice would be great.

well the fasting is a good idea just makje sure u give them a light feeding a day b4,
and everything else seams well sort out!!!
except the gallonage of the tubs and how ur powering the airstones???

^ battery powered air pump. what kind of fish are you moving?

I'm not sure of what tub size I might need. I was just going to see what they had and eyeball it. As for powering the air stones I was just going to use a DC to AC adapter that you plug into the lighter. And from there, I have a duel pump that I plan on attaching a splitter to. Then I can do 3 tubs at a time.

I've done chicago to dallas (16 hours on road) the same way you are thinking and it worked out well for me. I did not do the water change though, i just drove straight on stopping for gas stations as needed.

Try adding clove oil to the water to tranquilize those fish and one more thing, use large plastic bags with medical oxygen. It' better than using tubs. Give it a try bro.

Thanks. I might try the clove oil just to make the transition smoother. As for as the medical oxygen, I've never used it before and wouldn't even know how to go about using it.

clove oil for a road trip? thats sounds ridiculous. i wouldnt even touch that stuff. ive used it for putting down fish and knocking them out before performing a procedure.

but its 100% unecessary when moving fish in a tub. not only that you can kill them if you dont know what youre doing.
