clove oil for a road trip? thats sounds ridiculous. i wouldnt even touch that stuff. ive used it for putting down fish and knocking them out before performing a procedure.

but its 100% unecessary when moving fish in a tub. not only that you can kill them if you dont know what youre doing.

Agreed, I have only used clove oil to put down fish.

DO NOT USE CLOVE OIL! Like mentioned before, use battery powered air stones. And you could always by some bottled water for a on the go water change..........

Air Stones all the way. fasting is a good idea, but stay away from the oils and tranquilizers. you could pump an oxygen bag if you had the resources

Like pretty much everyone else has said it sounds like a good plan. Try to limit the stress to the fish as much as possible, make the transition from tank to tub quickly and smoothly. With the lids on the tubs they will be dark which will help keep the fish calm. Clove oil is a very bad idea. It essentially works by cutting blood flow from the brain causing the fish to lose consciousness. Excellent for very short procedures that need to be done out of the water and euthanasia but dangerous and noneffective as a long term tranquilizer. I think like everyone else has said that the fish will be fine with no tranquilizers.

Edit: well i don't read carefully enough apparently, you've already made the trip this past Sunday. Hope everyone came out okay on the other end.

:DDont feed them a day befor u move. I travel alot and have become a master at transporting my fish. Go to Amazon.com and get a bottle of bag buddies. they r a cheap sedative that works well. Its a must have when u move.
