How big is the pond and what do you keep in it? Koi's are notorious increasing ammonia. What I;ve noticed at fish stores that have Kois in their ponds is that they use UV light to filter bacteria. If you want to use the wet and dry that you've used for the saltwater system, just rinse it out with tap water. That is chlorinated water, and we all know that chlorine is a bacteriacide. After the rinse, you can use the wet and dry system, no problem. Don't use bleach. But if you have coraline algae in it, you can remove it with vinegar. If you dont have coraline algae, you just need to rinse it with chlorinated water. I've done this, so I know.
