When raised together the female will sometimes grow much large than the male. my breeding pair the male is 2" and the female 3-4". they were both introduced at 2". and they breed alot! lol. most pairs i had the feamles were larger. i dont know however about introducing a much larger female to a much smaller male. never done it that way though.

here is a pic of my breeding pair. The male was larger and had darker coloration on the upper half of his body. The female was usulally a much brighter red. These are Hemichromis Bimachulatus. I would think in that size pond they should be fine together but as with any fish keep an eye on them.
