Help with young EBJD's

Well said...I think I have them back in good shape. Added the carb/ammo to filter and did another 50% water change and ammonia is back to 0. Against my better judgement I moved 15 out of 70 of the largest EBJD's and put them in my 125g community tank. I was worried the would get picked on a bit but they seem to be doing alright. I think 70 fish in a 40g breeder was a BIT much as they started getting substantially bigger.

Good point, think you hit the nail on the head right there.

I've found there's often a subtle tipping point with bioload vs. tank size or filtration that you can gradually creep up on when you're growing out juvies. Up to a point you can adjust water changes and it's enough but at a certain point you have to have less fish or more tank/filtration.

Congrads on the EBJD. A EBGJD breeder I know says he changes the water on his babies when it loks dity. Maybe up to 4 times a week.

I have a large group of EBJD and BG together with the largest Blue Gene pushing 5in. and the smallest EBJD at 2in. I am not saying this would work for everyone, but keeping them in a large group has kept the aggression down to honestly non existent. For example if I put minows in the tank they are eaten and torn to shreds immediatly, and there are atleast 7 or 8 of my Jacks that could easily eat my smallest 2 EBJD, but they don't so much as have a single fin nip. It is important to note though, this group has been together since October, and have been raised together from 1 to 2 inches. The Blue Genes and EBJD are from two different breeders, 11 EBJD, 10 BG. I am not shore if others have had similar experiences, but the lack of hostility is one of those things, I wouldn't have believed if I did not see it on a day to day basis!
