How are you going to test the rock?

I would give them more land, ideally with sand for them to burrow into if they want. Their water should be shallow, how are you going to do that with the HOB filter?

For testing equipment you will need a hydrometer, which will test specific gravity (salinity at certain temperatures).

The fiddlers and red-claw crabs you buy in pet stores are all brackish crabs. Very few crabs are totally freshwater and they are hard to come by.

A ten gallon is fine for fiddlers. Lower the water level to 1/2 the tank. Sand is better than gravel. The crabs will need to be able to get out of the water, they will spend most of their time on land.

A HOB filter can be used in shallow water, as long as the water covers the inlet it will work. I used an Aquaclear on my crab tank to make a waterfall of sorts.

Be sure to use marine salt mix and NOT just plain "aquarium salt" with your crabs.
 
So this weekend Im going to Petsmart to buy some marine sea salt, a hydrometer, sand, tes kit, and a heater. If there is any more money left over Im going to buy some driftwood. I have removed some of the water out of the tank to see how it looks. I have removed about 75%. Would the amount left be ok? I'll get some pics to show how it looks. When doing a water change should I remove all the water or some of it? Can I remove them? Im a curious person.
 
I just viewed the site that newtothis posted. Its says they can live in a variety of substrates. Why wouldn't gravel be ok. The Petsmart where I'll be getting mine keeps theres in a tank with half water, half land and they have gravel.
 
The sand is more natural. Don't base your care on any pet store. Double check everything.
