my gars fins got torn up how long does it take to go back?

depends on how bad it is,usually about 3 weeks max.

which fins? the unpaired fins tend to grow back much faster than the paired fins, but this can also depend on the age of the fish. generally torn fins will grow back within a week for minor frays, and 2-3 weeks for complete recovery of really bad shreddings--

Just add some salt and bump the temp.. In my experience they grow back faster if they r on live food..

i'd go with the salt/increase temp, or just increase water changes (or both). i would not suggest live food as they can introduce disease...if the fish already has open wounds (which finnage shredding can be), it will be that much easier for disease to infect the gar as certain defensive barriers are already broken.--
