That depends on the depth of water and the time of day. During the day in deeper waters your going to want to have your lure pretty close to the bottom. From dusk until dawn you may have luck with a topwater lure (popper, jitterbug, zara spook) around the hole lake, but I would stay about 100 ft from shore and cast towards it.
If your lake has some coves with weeds, lilly pads I would fish there with a weedless worm or "bass assasin". Dont just reel the worm in, twitch it a few times,stop for 5 seconds, reel in a few feet slowly while gently twitching, repeat. Basically give it some action. You will figure it out.
