My Indo Tiger has a serious case of pop eye....I have been treating with MELAFIX for about 3 days now, and it still looks really bad. I know I need to give it time, but it looks like his eyes are going to pop out of his head! They are sticking out almost a good inch!!!....They are white, and have what looks like broken blood vessels on the outer part of the eye....I am soo afraid I am gonna loose my baby! I have had him since he was about 5 inches.....
Please help me. If there is anything else I can do to help him, I would love to know!!!!

Jen :(

the white eyes could be from vitamin b deiciency the pop eye could be parasitic eye flukes its best to treat the fish with antibiotics does he have dropsy or showing any other signs of distress also how are the other fish any symptoms showing if not it could go away on its own with good water conditions and vitamines try a uv sterlizer too it could be a water born bacteria if the fish gets worse and shows any signs of distress it probably would be best to put him out of his misery also meafix isnt a great product for servere bacterial infections get some pics please and keep us posted do our best to help

The only other fish that has it would be one of my polys. He only has it in one eye. I am also thinking that the IT may have gotten it from "rubbing" on some of the tank things. He likes to try and shove his way behind the heaters and the filter tubes. I noticed that he had a solid white "contact" over his eyes, and then the whole pop eye thing started. The ploy had it before him, and I was already treating him with the Melafix. That worked for him, and it went away. We did a 25% water change on Wednesday, and I began the treatment with more Melafix. I do not have an extra tank just for him, and I also only put half the lights on.
I don't want to loose him. I will get some pics up on Sunday.

So his eyes look a little better after using the Melafix for the past 5 days. The white caps he had are now the size of a small dot instead of a half inch, and his eyes are not sticking out of his head as far. He is eating and is acting normal. I may try another product to further the healing process.

ANY IDEAS ON WHAT TO USE???

Jen ;)

i would continue with the melafix jen it seems to working keep up the w/changes probably wouldnt hurt to give him some medicated food i use gel tek products depending on his food there are many ways of getting his med into him also just from my own experiance with cloudy eye i tryed a uv sterlizer and it worked well with the geltek and w/changes i use them in all my tanks now great preventive ..

Never had a fish with popeye, so no help here.
