I have no clue what to do. Last night I went down to check on my ray pond and noticed that my filter wasnt working. I checked it out and found out the problem was my pump was not pumping any more. I've had this problem before where a few grains of sand or a piece of shrimp stops the motor, and all I do is take the pump apart and completly clean it. But last night i did this and it still would not pump any water at all. I have two bio sponge filters on top of my main filter that have been in this pond for about 2-3 months now that are rated for 125-150 gallons each (the pond is about 230 gallons). The problem that I have is that I do not have the money to go out and buy another $200 pump. It has been without the main filter for sense about 1am last night, I plan on doing a 30%-50% water change every day until I get another pump but I dont know how long that could be. I guess my question is what can I do to fix my pump or create a safe environment for my rays without having a risk of water problems. In the pond I have 3 rays two of them are between 10 and 11 inches and the other ray is about 13 to 14 inches big. They are all motoros.

To fix the pump, I would contact the manufacturer. To avoid this problem in the future you need a better pre-filter. This probably means you will have to clean the prefilter frequently but that beats coming home to a pump that's not working. It is very easy to make your own pond pump pre-filter. Check in the DIY forum.

how far away from the store do u live? go buy a new one its better then losing some rays

I ran over to lfs i work at and talked to my boss about my pump because I baught it from him, and he told me it has a 5 year warranty but it would take months to get a new one. So he gave me two smaller 600 gph pumps to use for the time being. So no I do have my filter running, its just not as strong as it ustue be.

Cool. So did you have to mail in the other pump to be repaired?
