hi im new to arowanas and i recently purchased one about a week and a half ago. He wont eat anything i've tried crickets, gold fish feeders, rosie reds, pellets, and krill nothing seems to attract him. and im worried he might die. He is 10 inches living in a 125 with a 3 " festae, 3" JD, 4" female flowerhorn, 4' salvini, 2 1/2' jaguar, and 2 plecos. None mess or even try to pick on him.. if nayone can help it would be greatly needed. thanks!

people starve them for 3 weeks to ween then off feeders so i presume your safe and he could still be a lil in shock, but in all fairness iv never had one but dont think it will harm him.

Just have a little patience, took a silver aro of mine 3 weeks before he would eat. My black aro took 5 weeks before she would eat on a regular basis. Since he is fasting right now take this oppertunity to get him to eat pellets. Once your new aro starts eating peelets you can then introduce other foods, stay away from feeder goldfish though.
well with my experience of aros at the store and in my own tanks, they usually will not pass up live crickets, keep offering those. bein how it is new and who knows in what kind of health really keep an eye on those cichlids, the first sign of a torn fin and get that aro out of dodge. it's good that you got the aro much bigger than the cichlids, really good thinking because they usually don't stand up well to big cichlids when young

aros settle quickly i think but when there are other fish in the tank that could spook them, they take longer to settle
dont feed, wait untill it come sup to the tank when you put your hand for feeding, then you feed.
my RTG ate in less than 5 mins literally
my jardinii took 2 days
my red took 4 days.
so it depends on the fish and tank and set up.

raise temp to make it hungrier and active, i reckon 28 to 29 degrees celcius. i keep my aro tanks in 28 to 30.
are the sides blacked out? maybe you should do that too
and the back and keep only the front not blacked out

i moved my 6" black arowana into a 75g grow out tank without a background and shes been super picky when it comes to eating and ive noticed her colors arent as prominent as they were when she was in my 45g with a black background... i think ill pick up a background on my home if thats the case!
As said, try to convert it to pellets. I would say it is now or never.
