Perhaps the Nitrate and Ammonia reducers in the media have expired. Don't know. He was eating and holding his own at least 2-3 days ago and then suddenly just stopped. He usaully buried himself when stressed but he did not even do that. Just sat there. I increased the water tubulence to increase O2 but still nothing until he finally expired.
As Nic said, "lesson learned."
just curious did he have any wounds from the aro's or other rays biting him? the other rays in the tank doing ok still?

There were no wounds on his dorsal side that could have been caused by the aro's or other rays. However, I did find a faint abrassion on his underside when I pulled his lifeless body out of the tank. It was not a bad wound and something he should have recovered from easily.
All the other fish in the tank are fine. The aro's are even growing their barbels back. I understand they loose them in poor water conditions.
