i found my 3 year old super yellow leilupei dead this a.m., she was in perfect health befor this n appears to have had her butt whooped. never had any aggresion probs with this tank except my compressicepts n white calvus chasing n mildly fighting. theres those 2 a large tropheus duboise, and a big male front. who coulda done this? any insite on why the elivation in aggresion within the tank

The mix you got is not very compatable! The front should be in a colony of fronts as well as that tropheus duboise... compressicepts very agressive as well as calvus and tropheus!! Are you noticing any of those being agressive in general? what size is the tank? what is temp and ph? any ablitily to seperate the trpoheus and calvus into a seperate tank and get more of those types so there isn't as much singling out going on that is a very undercrowded tank and with those types of fish you need overcrowding. apparently front colonies can be kept with calvus colonies,not sure about tropheus mixing with fronts though fronts are more peaceful! Mostly I've heard you really need at least 8 of these in a group... mabye you could do something to keep agression down in there the way it is now but that might take some dither fish like mabye synodontis catfish...

Tank out the comp and see if the violence subsides. If it does, he was probably the aggressor. If he turn out to be the aggressor, start looking for a new tank.

I'm confused as to just what the stock is in by the first initial question. Are we to believe that the entire stock you listed is in the 30 or that you have a 30 you could isolate an aggressive fish to be in? I think in order to examine what is going on, it would be best to know just what the whole stock is being kept in now.
All that though, I'd have to say that if a group like that isn't in somthing around 150 and up, you're going to have a recurring problem. 125 isn't bad either, I'd go with at least a 6 foot span. It sounds like a boundry issue for starters, and likely, the tank they are in too small. Probably just a rehash again of what others have said, but you may find some benefit to looking at your species tendencies, to overall adult size, and looking at your tank footprint when looking at a mix.

Yes, i also agree w/ the majority on this. You CAN keep calvus OR comps w/ fronts and i've seen them w/ trophs too. If the calvus is close to the same size as the comp, get one of them out! They will have viscious battles for territory if the tank is not large enough, or if there is not enough rockwork. A 30g is way too small for adult trophs, but will work out well for a growout tank
