Unless the tank is going to be set up in his place he has no say what so ever as to you getting one or not. If he thinks he does then be done with him, he's a screw lose control freak, the problem goes much much deeper than fish keeping.

Your unwillingness to use outright manipulation to get what you want is a character feature that should be lauded, not looked down upon.

Thanks mate:)

Stick to your guns...or in your case ummm...bats,heavy sticks maybe...can you guys do pepper spray over there?

Tricky situation. You can show him Aquariacentral.com. The sister site has several ladies whether single or married, who keep dozens of tanks under their roofs. You can show him a couple goldfish forums and make him survey how many ladies exactly keep an impressive number of tanks compared to most men. Discuss with him and let him explain his side why he thinks you are not capable of keeping fish yourself. Think of ways to counter his arguments. His explanation to you was illogical and lacks merit. If he refuses without giving a valid explanation, then his attitude needs reworking especially as most relationships are a bit of a compromise.

Really...you really want to keep fish, and the only thing preventing you is your boyfriend won't let you?

If you he has any respect for you, he should respect your ideas and decisions.

and I sit here wondering..

is this thread getting anywhere?
