HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Binox, maracyn-two, or Mardel tri-sulfa would probably help but it would be best to use daily water changes (25+%) and bybass your filters during treatment, all 3 treat both bacterial and many fungal infections.

50 % water change is way too much and stressful for the fish to handle, do 10- 25% WC

I did'nt get this til late.
I started them on Maracyn last night. If it doesn't work I'm going to try maracyn-two next.
Can you use both at once?
They seemed a lot more active after about 3 hours after their first dose. My geophagus was up cleaning the rocks!

I think first thing we need to get rid of is "panic". It is difficult to determine tank problems when you are in a panic state. We tend to start doing so many things all at once that we are actually killing our fish instead of curing it. So many changes were happening to them all at once during this stage. The major killer of alot of fish in the wild or at home aquarium are drastic sudden changes. Most of the time, "Time" is the only answer, and there is nothing else you could do, no matter what you try.

Right now, I would not do anything to put the fish in sudden change. You separated the first fish that was sick, and that would've been sufficient. The changes that took place after might've been the cause of other events leading to another. DO NOT do anything now, and just keep an eye on the fish. They've been through enough medication and changes. Please keep us posted.

Cloudy eyes usually due to gram negative bacteria infection, Maracyn-2 would be more effective as Guppy suggested.

I think you hit the nail right on the head.
This is the first time I've dealt with this. For some reason I have this guilt- maybe I should have done something else, maybe I wouldn't have lost some fish, have I done enough?....MFK has totally helped with all the info I've been getting from people, but you all know you never get one straight answer. I've totally learned from this experience- to see the signs - and to take all the great information I get from fellow MFK's and apply it to my situation. I know a lot of people have dealt with this before but I haven't- and just like anyone else here I just want my fish to be okay. I will continue with the meds I'm giving them now and let them chillllllll.....
So anyway what I'm saying is thanks for all the info everyone. And once I get these babies healthy again ( I have confidence! ) they are going to have the sweetest water and environment they have ever seen in their lifetime.
I love my fish!!!
Thanks MFK!!!

Maracyn can be used at the same time as Marcyn 2, The only reason that I suggest daily water changes during treatment is if you have bypassed the filters you will need to prevent ammonia buid up

So the full dose of Maracyn and a full dose of Maracyn2 at the same time?
It won't overdose them?
Isn't it too much at once? My plan was to give one and if they looked like it, give them the other right after.

I'll make sure to test the ammonia daily. Thanks!

My fish look absolutely horrible and I don't know what to do! They have cloudy eyes and don't really move much. My green terror has just sat on the bottom for 3 days straight. My peacocks have really cloudy eyes. My birchir looks fine and my large synodontis's whiskers look like they are melting! I'm really afraid I'm going to loose them all if I don't take action fast.

Here's whats been happening:

The water in my tank has always been fine and is still the correct temp, ph, alkalinity, hardness, no nitrites, no ammonia and low nitrates. I had a fish that started to get hole in the head. I treated the tank with Mela Fix and a miscommunication with my husband led me to believe it was probably too old. I stopped medicating right away did a little over a quarter water change and removed the infected fish to another tank. I did another small water change 4 days later, and another. On the last water change we decided to get rid of all our fake plants and go all live. It was recommended that we use these metal plant anchors from petco (that say they are non-toxic and safe for all aquariums on back). I had two live plants previously anchored.

Two fish has some cloudiness in their eyes but other than that everything was fine-they were eating, etc. My research is leading me to believe it is some sort of toxin. But how do I know? What do I do?

HELP ME!!!
