Used to have 6x 9" Starlight Bristlenose Plecos and they never did bother any of my ganoids scaled fish. They also do a good job on cleaning algae but the only problem is that they hide when the lights are off. Must have complete darkness if you want your glass algae free. Also had a Papa Panaque and it cleaned the glass pretty well, but will need other food not just algae or it will start itself to death.
Flagtails are good too as they don't do too much damage if they did suck on the slime. Can also be train to not to sick the slime by tapping the glass whenever you see it sucking. It will learn eventually. That's how I did it to mine.
