OK i purchased a (freshwater moray eel) snow flake eel but i reserched it and now i realize that it needs to be put in brakish or full marine now its in a 45g fresh water tank with some decent sized chiclids i have a spare 45g tank so i took half the water out of my mature 45g tank and put it in the spare one and took a filter off of the mature tank to try to speed up the cycle how much salt ect do i need to put in the tank and what fish should i keep with it PLEASE HELP!!!! :nilly:

you can use 3/4 lb marine salt to 5g of water to get a good brackish ratio for it, but do a slow acclimation from fresh to brackish or sw

I am sure that other eel keepers will chime in never had one but always wanted one.

also, keep in mind the rise in salinity may affect the establishment of the bacteria as well

ok now the tank i have is just running empty with the water from the other tank i havenot added salt yet when i do so how should i do it?

You are going to need a way to measure the salinity. A refractometer is your best bet, but they are a bit pricey ($45), a swing arm box is better than nothing.

If you leave that tank empty for >24 hours, it won't have much cycling bacteria left alive in there.
