I turned the light on this morning right before work and found one of my stingray laying on its back. The other two are fine. I just did a water change yesterday and they all ate like pigs. I had to leave this morning but my wife said he had moved to the top were the supply comes in. The only thing that is different about the last week of events are i introduced and arrow and gar to the equation. But like I said I had to leave the little guy cause of work so im hoping for the best when i get home.:(

What kind of rays are they? Are the captive-bred or wild-caught? Also more details on your system could help (tank size, filtration, etc.)

Motoro rays, 5"-6" (3) in a 110 gallon, 110 aqua clear on one end and a powerhead on the other. I do 30 to 40% water changes every week. Up until now they have been doing great. I plan on doing a big water change when i get home and asses the situation better. I also plan on setting up a canaster filter on the other side as well. I hated to leave so I hope all is well when i get home.

I've never encountered this problem, but I know all too well the feeling of having to leave for work with a problem in your tanks. Hopefully someone will chime in and help you out.

Do you do any kind of water checks? Sounds like ammonia spike. You need to definitely beef up the filtration on the tank.

Normally I dont do water checks just frequent water changes. From what I see alot on here its probably an ammonia spike, so hopefully I can change that tonight. The thing about it in need to finish up my 265gallon acrylic tank with a 50 gallon sump w/ two pumps. I guess this is the eye-opener.

I would agree. Not enough filtration for the rays much less adding more stock.
Hope it is doing OK when you get home.
