Help!!!

so i just checked my water parameters since i was about to do a waterchange and i just seen that my nitrite levels are starting to climb
not crazy high but starting to get up there
its at 0.25ppm

tank was reading 0ppm ammonia 0 ppm nitrite and 20ppm last week

its been up for 3 months
72 gallon tank

could this be a mini cycle in the process?
ammonia still reads 0ppm

Is there a lot of debris somewhere in the system? I would do a 50% water change and test again in a few hours.

yea just did a 50% waterchange and a thorough gravel vac
hopefully it works
