Cannot see the point in trying to find a "bowl" big enough for a red tail and cannot see what the salt will do apart from stress the fish.

He swallowed it, let him puke it up, do not take all the water out.

Keep it all clean and let nature take it's course.
 
Hi, dont panic about it. Redtails regulary eat gravel. I have been keeping redtails for year now and they eat it to aid digestion or if they are unwell and want to throw up.

This reminds me of the cat that ate the heater
ok it was an airstone but someone said thermometer
and my mind went immediately to heater
coffee keyboard etc

he'll be fine, don't feed him in the interim
