Those are the same pellets I got for my little guy. He pulls them in his mouth, swims for a sec, then spits them back out. I switched to freeze dried krill, bloodworms, and crickets. Try different food selections and don't worry if he won't eat it. They're picky eaters when they're young.

haha i break one food stick into two and he still doesnt bother about them. those foodsticks really have a strong smell, how cant he resist them?! hahah! do you think brine shrimps are sufficient for him? cos they are so tiny.. but that's what he eats

just stop offering everything else and it will eat the food sticks. all my aros switched to food sticks without starving, but just about everyone else needs to starve their aros from what i have seen. all 6 of my new 3-4" silvers are eatting foodsticks and i have only had them a few days. they can handle full sticks, but only 2 sticks each. try to break them in half to get it to start taking them so you don't waste to many of them. within 1 week it will be eatting food sticks if it is all you offer it garenteed.

OK! i will do that! was just afraid it starves to death! is there a possibility of that happening? if no, i will do what u said and just drop sticks in everyday till it eats! but if it doesnt eat for these few days when im trying, how long after then do i take the sticks out of the tank to prevent water pollution?

Highly doubt they would starve to death and refuse pellets. I've got all my previous aros on pellets this way and they all give in way before that point.

awesome man! im so gonna try that from today onwards! will update u guys on the progress! :) thanks!

if the aro doesn't eat them by the time the get water logged and fall then scoop them out. you could try soaking a few in garlic to entice it to eat them, but i found this to be unnessasary. as gshock mentioned it wont starve to death at that size. just put 1 stick in broke in half till it starts to eat them at a time. do this 2-3 times a day and it will start to eat them. it will at some point hit anything you put in the tank with this method.

n/p hope it takes them as fast as mine do so you don't have to wait to long.

Hey guys, here's the update. My arowana died after that night of unusual behaviour... :( however, fortunate for me, i managed to find out the cause of it. there was a sucker fish that got stuck in the filter and was rotting so im placing my bets that the arowana, being sensitive to water died because of the bacteria.. well, i got a new arowana this morning and its eating just fine, blood worms, brine shrimps and guppies :)
