You got ripped off, you can get complete setup and stand at walmart for around 200. I spent 500 for my 150 granted it was used but still. It came with tank lights glass tops canister filter gravel and decor.I personally would never buy a set up from the petstore with those fancy stands way to much money only ones id buy is the one I mentioned at walmart you can get them at petstores to tank comes in a box with every thing for like 170 not sure if petstores have the stand but at walmart its 70.

Do you suggest I add a power filter in additional to the ugf? The store I purchased from swears by underground filters only-the entire shop is ran by them.....

I priced the tanks at walmart its 99.00 for the stang 199.99 for the tank. which is 300 but you still have to buy all the decor-and self set up.

Around here the 55 gallon tank kit is $136 and a sturdy table or stand is $80-100, A couple bags of sand are $6, a dozen live java ferns, 6 anubia, a couple water sprite and maybe a sword for $35 shipped from aquabid, a nice chunk of driftwood for $20 and some rocks from mother nature, free. You can get a 530 gph canister on ebay for $100 and 4 liters of seachem matrix for $30.

Again supporting your LFS is great but you asked if you got a deal and IMO no, but it was quick and easy. I would get this cannister if you are on a budget and want a big filter:
